“NECK PAIN”- A Major Health Issue in Youngsters

Neck pain could even occur due to several causes, none of which are related to age. Doctors have alerted you that you could be as young as 15 and suffering from serious neck pain. But how is that? Muscle pain is not something that children are supposed to experience, are they?

And this is where individuals are mistaken. Studies have shown that youthful individuals are more susceptible to neck and back problems than older people. You may have experienced a brief but intense pain that vanished within a moment or two. And, like most apathetic teenagers, you deliberately ignored it.

Anatomy of Neck

The cervical spine is located at the back of your neck, and it has been supported and surrounded by muscles and tendons. As a result, harm or extra stress on any of these could result in neck pain. You may not even recognize how and what is going to cause the pain; it could be as simple as poor posture or as severe as spondylitis.

Major Reasons For Neck Pain

There may be a variety of causes for neck pain-

  • Bad Posture: Poor posture is the main cause of neck injuries. Either due to improper sitting habits or maybe while sleeping. Sitting in the wrong posture for a long period while using electronic gadgets like mobile phones, computers, laptops.
  • Strained Neck Muscles : A severe issue these days is muscle stretch, which causes extreme pain. The initiation was unexpected. Torticollis occurs while your head is twisted to one side and becomes extremely painful and nearly impossible to keep moving. The pain, which is usually caused by poor sleeping habits, can be excruciating but subsides after several days.
  • Lymph Node Infection : the location of the lymph node is in the neck region. Swelling in this region can cause disturbance in neck muscles leading to pain and spasm.
  • Injuries : accidental injuries are another factor for the initiation of pain and discomfort.
  • Meningitis : This is Another serious is contagious and is caused due to inflammation of membranes around the spinal cord and brain.

The three different types of neck pain are as follows:

  • Nonspecific Neck Pain: This is the most basic type of neck pain, and the accurate cause is unknown. As a result, “nonspecific” pain was coined. Typically, this pain is not caused by a severe neck problem or disease. And, with adequate rest, full recovery is unquestionably possible in this case.
  • Whiplash Neck Sprain : This one is caused by a sudden jolt to your neck, such as in a car accident.
  • Cervical Radiculopathy : This condition occurs when a nerve root inside the spine or cervical region is pushed, condensed, or damaged as it exits the spinal cord.

What one Should do to Prevent Neck Pain

  • Minimize Stress and Tension : Seek different techniques to reduce stress. Exercise and opt for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Improve your Posture : Observe your body posture while sitting and standing whether correct or incorrect.
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle : Have a properly balanced diet, and exercise daily.
  • Lift Heavy Items Safely : Be careful while lifting weight.
